Our take
A fully managed AWS platform for deploying and running AI agents in production. You write the agent — in any framework, with any model — and AgentCore handles runtime, session isolation, memory, identity, tool access, policy and monitoring. Through 2026 its harness, evaluations, policy controls and web search reached general availability.
Best for
Engineering teams that want to ship agents to production without building the surrounding infrastructure.
Pros
- Framework- and model-agnostic
- Serverless runtime with session isolation
- Policy and controls live outside agent code
- Harness, evaluations and web search now GA
Cons
- AWS-centric and developer-oriented
- Consumption pricing adds up at scale
- You still build the agent logic
How it compares
Against agent frameworks like CrewAI or LangChain (both cataloged), AgentCore is the managed runtime and ops layer beneath them rather than the authoring framework itself.
Full review
Amazon Bedrock AgentCore is a managed platform for taking AI agents to production. You bring the agent logic in any framework and with any model; AgentCore provides the runtime, session isolation, memory, identity, tool connections, security, scaling and observability around it.
Across 2026 its pieces reached general availability — Policy controls and Evaluations in March, then the managed agent harness and a built-in Web Search tool in June. The harness runs the orchestration loop, executes tools, manages context and recovers from failures, while Policy enforces tool access outside the agent's own code.

OpenRouter
OpenRouter is a unified API and marketplace for large language models. With one account and key you can reach 300+ models from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Meta, Mistral, Cohere and many smaller providers, using an OpenAI-compatible interface. It charges passthrough rates (provider cost plus a small markup) and publishes live pricing and usage-based model rankings, so you can compare options and route to the cheapest, fastest or most reliable one. It supports automatic fallback across providers and a free-model tier for experimentation; the main costs to watch are a 5.5% credit-card fee, which hits small top-ups hardest, and a 5% bring-your-own-key fee on requests above one million per month.
