Our take
Comet is Perplexity's agentic browser: it doesn't just answer, it acts - researching across tabs, summarizing pages, and handling multi-step tasks like filling forms or triaging email. It's free on Mac and Windows and now on mobile, with serious money behind it. Agentic browsing is still new, so watch what you let it do, but it's the front-runner in a fast-moving category.
Best for
People who want an AI that works across their open tabs and takes actions, not just a chat box.
Pros
- Acts across tabs: research, summarize, multi-step tasks
- Free on macOS, Windows, iOS and Android
- Backed by a well-funded, fast-moving Perplexity
Cons
- Agentic web actions can still misfire - supervise sensitive tasks
- Granting a browser agent broad access has real security trade-offs
How it compares
Comet is the highest-profile agentic browser, ahead of newer challengers, but the whole category is early and worth using cautiously.
Full review
Comet is Perplexity's AI browser. Instead of treating search as a box you type into, it turns browsing into delegation: it can read across your open tabs, summarize and research, and carry out multi-step tasks such as filling forms, managing email or pulling together information from several sites. It's now available across desktop and mobile after a staged 2025-26 rollout.
The browser is free on macOS and Windows, with an optional Pro plan, and Perplexity raised around $200M in mid-2026 at a roughly $20B valuation - so it's well resourced. The caveats are inherent to agentic browsing: autonomous actions can go wrong, and giving an agent access to logged-in sites carries security and privacy trade-offs. Use it, but keep a hand on the wheel for anything sensitive like payments or account changes.

OpenRouter
OpenRouter is a unified API and marketplace for large language models. With one account and key you can reach 300+ models from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Meta, Mistral, Cohere and many smaller providers, using an OpenAI-compatible interface. It charges passthrough rates (provider cost plus a small markup) and publishes live pricing and usage-based model rankings, so you can compare options and route to the cheapest, fastest or most reliable one. It supports automatic fallback across providers and a free-model tier for experimentation; the main costs to watch are a 5.5% credit-card fee, which hits small top-ups hardest, and a 5% bring-your-own-key fee on requests above one million per month.
