JetBrains Junie

Freemium

JetBrains' native AI coding agent, out of beta in June 2026. It plans before it codes, edits across files, runs tests and fixes failures inside IntelliJ, PyCharm and the rest of the JetBrains IDEs, and now ships as a CLI for any terminal or CI. It topped the SWE-Rebench agent benchmark. Needs a paid AI Pro or Ultimate plan once free credits run out.

Our take

Junie is JetBrains' answer to Cursor and Copilot's agent mode, and it earns the comparison - it plans, edits across files and fixes its own test failures, and it topped SWE-Rebench. Best if you already live in a JetBrains IDE; the new CLI frees it for VS Code or CI too. The catch is credit-based pricing that power users burn through fast.

Best for

Developers already working in JetBrains IDEs who want an agent that plans, edits across files and runs tests without leaving the editor - plus teams who want the same agent in the terminal or CI.

Pros

  • Plans, edits multiple files, runs tests and fixes failures
  • Native to every JetBrains IDE, plus a new standalone CLI
  • Ranked #1 on the SWE-Rebench agent benchmark
  • Pick your model (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, xAI), with BYOK in the CLI

Cons

  • Credit-based pricing; heavy users hit limits quickly
  • Full value assumes you use a JetBrains IDE
  • No real free agent tier beyond limited credits

How it compares

Versus Cursor and GitHub Copilot agent mode, Junie's edge is depth inside JetBrains tooling - it debugs with the real debugger and knows your project - while the CLI closes the gap for non-JetBrains users. The trade-off is credit metering rather than a flat seat price.

Full review

Junie is JetBrains' native AI coding agent, out of beta as of June 2026. It plans a multi-step approach before writing anything, edits across multiple files, runs your tests and fixes what breaks, working either inside IntelliJ IDEA, PyCharm, WebStorm and the rest of the family, or from a new standalone CLI that drops into any terminal or CI pipeline. On the independent SWE-Rebench benchmark it placed first among coding agents.

You pick the underlying model in settings - current options from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google and xAI - and the CLI adds bring-your-own-key support including OpenRouter. Pricing runs through JetBrains AI: a limited free tier, then AI Pro at about $10 a month and AI Ultimate at $30, with credits consumed per agentic task. Frequent users do report burning through credits quickly, so the real cost depends on how hard you lean on it.

Composio provides the execution infrastructure that connects AI agents to real software. It sits at the tooling and connectivity layer of the agent stack, giving developers one framework - SDKs, a CLI and 850+ pre-built connectors - to let agents act across apps such as GitHub, Slack and Salesforce. It handles the hard parts: complex authentication and OAuth, plus remote sandboxed environments for safe execution, exposed over the Model Context Protocol so agents can reason and then reliably take action. The platform is built for production, with SOC 2 and ISO 27001:2022 certifications and deployment across public cloud, VPC and on-premises. Composio operates from San Francisco and Bangalore and raised a $25M Series A led by Lightspeed, with angels including Vercel's Guillermo Rauch and HubSpot's Dharmesh Shah.
